## Answer

Derive resolution from 'smallest defect covers at least 3 pixels', set frame rate from line takt, then pick the interface: GigE for cable length, USB3 for bandwidth. Mono usually beats colour for defect and OCR tasks.

## Details

Resolution is derived, not maximised: measure the field of view and smallest defect, then require at least 3 pixels across it - 6MP (like the MV-CS060 series) is mainstream precisely because it covers most 3C and packaging fields. Set frame rate from takt with 30% headroom; exposure limited by motion blur is usually the real bottleneck.

Pick GigE for long runs and multi-camera networks (the line default) or USB3 for short, fast stations. Prefer mono unless you judge colour - without Bayer interpolation it delivers higher effective sharpness.
